<reviewbody>I've watched this twice so there must be something attracting me.
What it is, I can't say, don't know.
It seems to be just average but somehow cool too.
Give it a peak.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>If they are not under copyright, they would make a great addition to archive.org's film archives.

This film is a dandy. It has intrigue, lots of action, comedic sequences, and Peter Lorre playing one of his most versatile roles. Love those Mr. Moto films! Definitely worth watching.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Film is great, you can hardly go wrong with a Peter Lorre film.
One thing though, if the MPEG2 really is MPEG2, I am a banana. I cn assure you that I am neither yellow nor bent. The MPEG1 seems to me to be of equal quality and is fastre to download of course.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Mr. Moto is a great character, and Peter Lorre clearly has a lot of fun playing him. The film is worth watching only to see the actors - particularly Lorre, who kicks up the energy level several notches whenever he's on screen. John Carradine does a credible turn (despite his American accent) as the British agent posing as a low-life gang member. He has a few good scenes, including one in an underwater diving bell (some nice underwater effects there). But Carradine's supporting role is unfortunately rather small. A very young, muscular George Sanders also doesn't have much to do as the lead villain's side-kick. Any movie where Moto matches wits with an evil mastermind who is an accomplished ventriliquist has potential, but, sadly, the story just isn't well told. The so-called "Egyptian" setting is laughable - a handful of extras wearing turbans and fezes do not an Egypt make. Most of the action takes place in a British music hall and a British pub, with not a single Egyptian character, nor even a stock-footage shot of pyramids or the Sphinx to give any sense of being in an exotic locale. This is definitely a lesser installment in the 1930s Oriental detective genre. The print is also very dark, which is a real disadvantage to a movie with so many night shots. All that said, some Moto is better than no Moto. Two stars for the film itself, plus an extra one for Lorre.</reviewbody>
